Keeping with the long-standing tradition of listening to the customer, Aspyra is proud to announce the release of version 7.4.
This version of Aspyra’s software starts with a full-blown 64-bit MedVIEW application. This enhancement will improve the performance of MedVIEW, especially in reviewing larger data sets. A few of the exams affected are PET/CT exams with 1500 plus images and Breast Tomosynthesis images, which can be well over a GB for just one exam. So what does this really mean? 32-bit processors have 4 GB addressable space while 64-bit processors have 16 GB addressable space. 32-bit systems are limited to 3.2 GB of RAM while 64-bit systems are basically unlimited, allowing access to a max of 17 Billion GB of RAM. More RAM means faster performance; faster performance means less waiting for exams to load.
Another feature added to the software is the “Managed Worklist” functionality. This feature can control the reading of exams based on the number of people reading exams, the type of exams being read and the user’s ability to read specific modalities exams. Gone are the days of “Cherry Picking” the easy-to-read exams from the worklist and leaving the difficult exams for someone else to read. The worklist manager can assign exams on a routine schedule, or with a simple right click on the exam, assign it to a specific reader. Either way the reading worklist can be managed to help with your workflow.
Sometimes specific modalities take longer to read, some take a very short amount of time. So the addition of the new “Read By Date” feature can be configured for each modality, or all modalities. When an exam is still unread after the Read By Date, the user is presented with a visual indicator of red text in the worklist. This text color is to alert users the exam has not been read yet.
MedVIEW now has the option to place a password on an exported exam. Burning an exam to a CD or DVD now allows the user to add an encrypted password to secure access to the CD / DVD images and reports. Without the password, a user will not be able to access the information on the disk.
These are just a few of the interesting additions to our suite of PACS software. Other useful enhancements will help with your workflow on a daily basis as well.
